Tuckaway Farm ~ One of the places we have had the privilege of caring for.

Just getting started with our new blog.  Thanks for your patience! We were privileged to own and work on our own farm, Dreamweaver Farm and Gardens, for many years. Larry grew up on a cattle ranch in Nebraska and always dreamed of making a living from the land and so in 1989 we decided to move from simple gardening, which we had been doing for years, to farming and selling at Farmer's Markets. We started out growing on a hillside where we were caretaking at the time. That fall we tilled the soil, terraced and planted a green manure crop. That served us well until 1993 when we decided to move to 20 acres that had never been worked. We wanted to grow organically and this suited us perfectly. We began clearing the land and tilling the soil with a borrowed tractor, building raised beds, fencing for deer. It was long days from daylight till dark and it was a labor of love.

The property owner decided to do something else with the property and we were forced to leave the farm in 1996. Since then we have been house and ranch/farm sitters. Over the last few years we have been blessed to care for gardens and farms for other folks; often sharing in the harvest. This blog is where we will share from our journals of many years about what we learned being stewards of the land at DreamWeaver Farm along with stories from our travels.
